The Happy Hearts Fund, founded by model Petra Nemcova, has raised $10 million to help children in countries hit by natural disaster, providing housing for 180 students who lost their families in the ‘04 tsunami in Thailand, rebuilding 200 kindergartens after an earthquake struck Indonesia, and furnishing more than 700 computers for classrooms in places like New Orleans, Peru and Pakistan. According to the World Health Organization’s World Malaria Report 2009 released earlier this week, more than one third of affected countries included in the study have witnessed reduction in malaria cases by more than 50 percent between 2000 and 2008.
