Shakira’s Charity to Open New School

shakiraThe charity for underprivileged children founded by Colombian pop star Shakira is to open its sixth special school in the singer’s native country.

The singer established Pies Descalzos in 1995 to improve education, nutrition, and the lives of the thousands of displaced children living in perilous conditions because of the violent internal conflict in Colombia. (more…)

Pamela Anderson Richie Rich “A*Muse”: New Zealand Fashion Week

200px-Pamela_Anderson_3Anderson will debut her animal and eco friendly clothing line, A*Muse, during New Zealand Fashion Week, September 22-25.

The designs she collaborated with Richie Rich were originally set to debut at New York’s Fashion Week from September 10-17, but Pamela set her sights on New Zealand for its green reputation.

Beyonce’ Sings to Leukemia Girl in Sydney

beyBeyonce’ may be known as a “Diva,” as she proclaims on one of the hottest songs on her album “I Am…Sasha Fierce,” but it is her gentler alter ego that has been making headlines lately.
When closing out her Friday tour stop at the Acer Arena in Sydney, Australia, Beyoncé dedicated her song “Halo” to a young girl battling leukemia.
For the first run through of the song that pays homage to a personal hero, Beyoncé acknowledged Michael Jackson, as she has done at previous concerts.
Afterwards, Beyoncé invited a young girl named Chelsea on stage, knelt beside her and asked if it was okay to sing her a song.

Canine Lifeguards Protect Swimmers in Italy

Vince Young and Steve McNair’s Boys

At the funeral of Steve McNair in July, Vince Young told the slain quarterback’s two young boys that he would always be there for them. On Wednesday, Young lived up to that promise.

The Tennessee Titans quarterback surprised McNair’s two sons, Trenton and Tyler, by taking them out to breakfast as part of their school’s annual father/student tradition. As The Tennessean reports, Young showed up at the McNair house Wednesday and took the children to a pancake restaurant, along with a number of other families at the school. (more…)
